Is VeteranDegrees really free for veterans?
Yes — every tool, guide, and Benefits Navigator conversation is free, always. We never charge veterans or military families anything, and free access is not conditioned on submitting a form or connecting with a school.
How exactly does VeteranDegrees get paid?
Partner schools pay us fixed marketing fees — per click or per qualified, consented introduction. A qualified introduction means accurate contact details, confirmed eligibility interest, and genuine interest in a program. The fee is the same whether or not you ever enroll.
Why doesn't VeteranDegrees earn more if I enroll?
Because compensation tied to securing enrollments or financial aid is prohibited by federal law (38 U.S.C. § 3696 and the Higher Education Act incentive-compensation ban) — and because it would corrupt the guidance. Since we earn the same either way, we have no reason to push you toward any school.
Will schools contact me if I use the site?
Not unless you ask. Browsing, tools, and Navigator calls generate no school contact. A school only hears from you when you submit a form that names that school and you check an unchecked consent box — and you can opt out at any time.
Is VeteranDegrees part of the VA?
No. We are an independent education resource — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or any government agency, and not a school. We also never prepare or file VA claims and never ask for government login credentials.
